President’s Message Dear friends – Welcome to ADMAT USA’s website. We are glad you came to visit.
ADMAT USA was founded as a non-profit organization by a group of maritime archaeologists determined to preserve and protect our underwater cultural heritage and also the educate the public about our past.
There are thousands of shipwrecks located in the coastal waters of the U.S. that need our protection. The harsh elements of nature, wave action, as well as the continued risk of looting puts these time capsules at risk. Through field schools, we hope to survey, record and excavate these wrecks while teaching underwater archaeology skills to the field school participants. By recording, documenting, photographing, and preserving the artifacts, the stories of a bygone era can be discovered and relived today.
So to all universities, archaeologists, divers, volunteers and companies, I welcome you all to take part in any way you can. Whether you provide equipment, finances, manpower and support, or to actually take part in the archaeological surveys and field schools, all assistance is greatly appreciated. I know that together we can save these important sites for future generations to enjoy.
