Five iron cannons were located in close proximity to the wreck in groups of 2 and 3. They are heavily concreted and also have live coral and sponges in places which makes it impossible to get the original measurements accurately or to read any markings. However measuring them we can say that they are not all of the exactly same size and design, but all believed to be 4pdr. When measuring the cannons we had to be very careful not to get in direct contact with the black sea urchins who were all over but especially likes hanging around on these cannons .. those sea urchins can move surprisingly fast when they want to. |
