Dr.Aïcha Gendron-Badou, A Short Biography

Docteur en géologie marine, Aïcha Gendron-Badou travaille au Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (MNHN). Après sa Maîtrise en géologie à Casablanca au Maroc, Aïcha a effectué des recherches sur les diatomées (algues microscopiques) pour l’obtention de son DEA (1992) du MNHN.

Aïcha Gendron Badou is working as a doctor in maritime at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle.After her masterwork in Casablanca in Morocco , Aicha conducted researches on Diatoms (microscopic algaes ) in order to obtain her post graduate Diploma ( taken before completing a Phd)

En 1996, Aïcha a soutenu sa thèse en « Géologie sédimentaire » à partir de carottes  provenant de l’océan indien (région des Iles Kerguelen). La détermination et l’étude statistique des espèces de diatomées marines, couplées à la caractérisation par spectroscopie infrarouge, lui ont permis de reconstituer des variations de positions du front polaire antarctique au cours du Quaternaire.

In year 1996 Aïcha presented her thesis “sedimentary Geology”  based on the study of core coming from the Indian Ocean (Kerguelen Islands) .The statistical study of marine diatoms together with infrared spectroscopy allow her to reconstruct the variation of position  on the Antarctic during the Quaternary.

Dr. Aïcha Gendron-Badou a participé aux fouilles d’habitations coloniales (XVII^e-XIX^e Siècle) en Guyane française. Elle a étudié les matériaux de constructions des bâtiments (roches et briques) et a recherché l’origine géologique des matières premières.

Dr Aïcha Gendron Badou took part to the excavation project of colonial in French Guyana. She studied the construction materials of the buildings (rocks and brick red )  &   geological origin  of the raw material.

Depuis 2003, elle est chargée de médiation scientifique au MNHN à la Direction de la Communication, Accueil et Partenariat. Parallèlement, elle continue ses recherches à l’aide de la spectroscopie infrarouge en collaboration avec le Pr. François Fröhlich (MNHN-Préhistoire). Dès 2001, ils ont analysé le verre des flacons de parfum du Casimir. Actuellement, ils poursuivent l‘étude des carreaux de carrelage et de la faïence du Tile.

Since 2003 she's in charge of scientific communication at the Museum . She is conducting research together with Dr. Francois Gendron and Prof. Fröhlich on infrared Spectroscopy . In 2001 they took part to the analysis of perfume bottles from Le Casimir.  More recently she has been conducting scientific analysis on ballast stones from The Carron Wreck and terricotts tiles from The Tile Wreck which probably sunk between 1720 and 1723, according to Dr. Gendron's research.

Aïcha est mariée avec François Gendron, Dr en Archéologie, ils ont deux enfants. Elle possède le niveau II FFESSM (CMAS 2 étoiles) en plongée. Née dans le sud marocain, elle parle et écrit parfaitement l’arabe.

She’s married to Dr François Gendron & has 2 children. Sh'es got the level 2 in diving (CMAS 2 stars). Born in the south of Morocco she is speaking & writing perfectly Arabic language.
