Kathy Schubert BA., A Short Biography Kathy Schubert is President of ADMAT USA, and a maritime archaeologist with ADMAT. She studied archaeology at Rutgers University and received her B.A. in Archaeology from Monmouth University. Her land excavations include numerous historical sites in her home state of New Jersey, with colonial ceramic production and use her specialty. She has published several articles and lectured on the subject, and worked for the Monmouth Historical Association. She is currently a member of the Archaeology Society of NJ, the New Jersey Historical Divers Association and the Society for Historical Archaeology. Kathy is a certified PADI Rescue Diver and in 2003 participated in ADMAT’s St. Kitts Maritime Archaeological Project, where she was responsible for the logging and documentation of the artifacts found on the White House Bay Wreck site. The artifacts that were recovered from that site are currently undergoing conservation in the National Museum in Bassaterre, managed by the St. Christopher Heritage Society. In July and August 2005, she was responsible for the daily survey activities of The Button Wreck and trained students on underwater archaeology methods during ADMAT USA's Florida Maritime Archaeological Project for NOAA and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Kathy conducts public outreach activities by lecturing on the importance of preserving underwater cultural heritage to local high schools. She also presents the results of the research completed by ADMAT at national professional conferences. Kathy also presents ADMAT's maritime archaeological conference papers at the SHA conferences and has done so successfully for the last four years. In her spare time, she enjoys flying and is a member of the “99’s” flying club. Her passion for protecting shipwrecks located in the waters of the U.S. make her an asset to the ADMAT organization.
